COMMUNIQUE NO. 2
Northern Cheyenne Nation
The Elders Circle and their representatives in Council agree that the Sacred Ceremonies given to us by the Creator are the Heart of our existence. These ceremonies are our first duty. The next duty is the protection of the lands, our Mother the Earth, for our coming generations.
We therefore support the Dine Nation - the Big Mountain people of Arizona - in their struggle to retain their original territories free from exploitation and destruction. We pray for their safety and well-being.
We support the Lakota Nation in its struggle to keep the Black Hills free from destruction and exploitation, and we pray for the safety and well-being of the many people engaged in this great struggle to keep the lands for the coming generations clean and undisturbed.
We support the Hopi Traditional People in their struggle to keep the lands free from destruction and exploitation, and to secure a future for their coming generations. The Hopi Nation has long been recognized as a Spiritual Center for many Nations, and they are regarded as keepers of Sacred Knowledge and Tradition for Native people.
We support the Akwesasne Mohawks, keepers of the eastern door of the Houdenosaunee, the Iroquois Confederacy, The Great League of Peace. The Mohawks struggle for human rights and the right to determine the future of their Nation without interference from the State of New York and the Bureau of Indian Affairs of the U.S. Federal Government.
We support the Fishing Nations of the west coast of the great Turtle Island in their struggle to guard the Sacred fish for the generations to come. We regard the welfare of Our Mother the Earth, and all the life upon it, as a Sacred duty of our people of the Western Hemisphere. We support all the people who struggle for her well-being. We support the Traditional people's struggle for the safety of the Sacred mountain Toman in the lands of the Colville people of Washington State.
Sacred sites and areas are protection for all people - the four colors of man - and these sites are in all areas of the earth in the four directions. They are to be cherished and guarded from corruption and desecration for the welfare of life upon this earth.
There are many Nations and situations not mentioned that we know exist, but we do not have specific information about them. We hope to hear from these people. We can only try to reach more people through the meeting of the Elders Circle. Come forward and join hands with us in this great work for the Creator.
