Buy Local/Eat Organic

Each U.S. citizen consumes about 400 gallons of oil a year on food (about 17% of total energy consumption). If every one of us ate just one meal a week composed of locally and organically raised products the country's oil consumption would be reduced by more than 2.4 billion gallons a year.

Related interesting statistic: "Americans eat 815 billion calories of food each day - that's roughly 200 billion more than needed - enough to feed 80 million people." More Statistics
